From Heads to Tails

Sudio was born to former Crusader Security Officer Redgey Somerton and rogue Doctor Analise Somerton on Green Imperial Housing Exchange (aka Grim Hex). Both her parents were wanted fugitives within Stanton and fled from local authorities into the relatively "safe" residences of Grim Hex where they began new lives in connection to the criminal elements there. Red - through his fierceness and cunning - secured a lucrative gig as an enforcer within the ranks of the Adder Heads gang, while his wife - possessing an extensive background in biochemistry - was quickly recruited into their narcotic labs.Sudio experienced a rather wayward upbringing, often taking her father's prized hoverbike out for unsanctioned joyrides with the few friends she managed to make and pilfering some drugs for the same friends from underneath her mother's nose, much to Ana's chagrin. Eventually, Red decided to apply her misguided yet youthful energy to more useful tasks, and Sudio was officially trained as a low-rung drug runner for the Adder Heads. She was even given her first pistol - a well-worn and modified Coda - in case she ran into any trouble while making drops.However, the lawless tides of Grim Hex would shift as the years advanced, and in 2943 the station was overrun by the ruthless Nine Tails gang. It didn't take long for them to subjugate the other local gangs, including the Adder Heads. Members of the latter were either viciously cut off or, in some cases, afforded the opportunity to be absorbed into the Nine Tails' organization. True to his turncoat nature, Red decided to rat out and betray his bosses, providing the Nine Tails with information that would allow them to ultimately usurp the Adder Heads' operations. Unfortunately for Red, he would experience the bitter taste of his own medicine as both he and his daughter were given an ultimatum - one had to kill the other in order to be welcomed into the Nine Tails' ranks.To the surprise of the Nine Tails, it was Sudio who survived.

Double Dog Power

Meanwhile, Ana had retained her role within the lab they'd taken over. However, months later during a raid led by some Crusader security personnel, it was reported that Ana set the entire lab on fire and poisoned herself to avoid capture. With both her parents now gone, Sudio was the only one left to take the hit for the huge loss of narcotics as a result of her mother's actions. She completed various tasks for the Nine Tails in an effort to climb out of the hole that she only seemed to keep sinking further into. As it turned out, being a Nine Tails was not all it's cracked up to be. The perks of being feared and respected in the underworld held only so much appeal to Sudio in comparison to the strict and harrowing life she had to endure. Eventually, she reached the conclusion that not being able to live a life that was truly yours was not only tedious, but also got you nowhere.So Sudio resolved to sever her ties to the criminal organization, which would prove to be tricky as one could not simply walk out on a career as a Nine Tails that easily. The first thing on her agenda was erasing her genetic code banked in Grim Hex's primary medical facility. Slipping in and out was hardly a problem, but some complications did arise soon afterwards - especially because she had to take out her superior to acquire the necessary credentials.The Nine Tails caught wind of her scheme and tracked her down as she tried to flee their territory over Cellin. Sudio was shot down in her ship and forced to hole up in one of the abandoned security bunkers on the moon's surface. Trapped and with little options left of escaping alive, she desperately activated a beacon through her Mobiglass, deciding that it was worth the risk of being captured by a bounty hunter than by the vengeful Nine Tails. For hours, she held out against the multitudinous crew of Nine Tails who were determined to flush her out, growing low on ammo and even lower on the hope of making it out of the grim predicament she was in.As she got down to her last pistol magazine, a daring citizen named Don Daricus (and his AI partner, Aurora) responded to her distress signal and arrived to help clear the bunker of aggressors. As the last two standing after the gritty battle, Sudio expressed her thanks and desire to be rid of the Nine Tails, but she was also wary of the strange rescuer and expected to be arrested and dragged to Klescher at any point. However, the man asked her a series of questions that would forever change her fate: Did she like double dogs, and did she like Drake ships? Though taken aback by the non sequitur, she nodded in answer to both. After that, their paths in the verse were joined - more or less. They boarded his Drake Cutless Black then took a brief respite to heal each other's wounds and share a couple of double dogs. He next offered to help clear her criminal record at Security Post Kareah, giving her a chance to officially earn her citizenship. She accepted. Whatever she decided to do moving forward (legit or otherwise) would be up to her and she could be her own boss for once.The stars' the limit.

2956 Update

If one thing is certain, it is change - expected or otherwise, desired or not.For the past few years, Sudio has been allowed certain privileges within the UEE based on her improved behavior after voluntarily severing her ties from the oppressive syndicate. She enjoyed the life of a free citizen, following the ambitions of her partner when possible but also taking the time to do so of her own volition while learning to help others in need.One such person impacted by her actions was a Levski resident by the name of Xoe and her family during the recent Molina mold crisis that plagued the Nyx station. Sudio made the choice to move to Nyx and render aid to its people more directly; in Xoe, she saw much of herself, and did all she could to help transport her and her little brother to safety as well as others who were not yet infected.Unfortunately, this also meant that Sudio and Don were often separated, creating a distance in their relationship as both chose to reach out to help the people of Levski in different ways and for different reasons. While his seemed politically charged, hers was more personal. She felt their separation gradually widen, and despite her efforts to reach out and be supportive of him where possible, the divergence in their path seemed set. Even when their partnership and personal relationship finally came to an end - much to her bitter disappointment - she knew she would always respect and love him, though from afar and without further interaction. From then on, she was determined to keep her own goals and well-being at the fore.Untethered from the nobler aims of her ex-partner, Sudio once again became interested in taking a more active - yet discreet - role within the 'Verse's dark underworld. She has been involved in legit and no-so-legit business, using her shop (Sudio's Assortments & Selections Shop, or SASS) as a front in the case of the latter. She continues to curry favor with the UEE reps enough to keep her business open while also re-establishing and increasing her reputation among the seedier black market trade.
